The inauguration of a high-end Colour Doppler USG machine was conducted on May 6th at the rural training health centre (RTHC) Kalantara, a field practice area of the Department of Community Medicine. The machine was inaugurated by Dr (Prof) Ruby Reshi, the principal of GMC Baramulla, under whose guidance the machine was procured and installed. The machine boasts the latest features, accessories, and probes to scan different parts of the body. A sonologist from Radiodiagnosis GMC Baramulla has been deputed weekly for performing Ultrasound. The inaugural function was attended by HOD Community Medicine, Prof. Abdul Majid Ganie, Dr. Zahid, and Dr. Uruj (Associate Prof. Community Medicine), staff of RTHC, community leaders, and senior citizens. This initiative is a significant step towards providing better diagnostic services at the grassroots level as part of comprehensive clinical care at the primary health level. It is expected to improve the overall health delivery at the primary healthcare level, as people need not travel long distances to avail of such facilities. The senior citizens and community leaders who attended the inauguration were highly appreciative of the principal of GMC Baramulla for taking such a positive initiative. They acknowledged the immense benefits of having such high-end diagnostic services at the primary healthcare level and expressed their gratitude for the same.
