Deputy Commissioner Inaugurates PMR Centre and Gymnasium at GMC Baramulla

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar along with principal GMC Baramulla Dr (prof) Ruby Reshi, inaugurated a state-of-the-art Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) Centre and Gymnasium at GMC Baramulla today. The PMR Centre and Gymnasium primarily caters to post-trauma, post-stroke, orthopedic patients, and congenital ortho patients, The centre is equipped with advanced equipment and specialized care, emphasizing rehabilitation and recovery to enhance the patient's quality of life. During the inauguration, the Head of the PMR Department provided an overview of the available amenities and emphasized the benefits for individuals in North Kashmir, especially those in need of post-trauma and orthopedic care. The centre's services will offer targeted rehabilitation programs tailored to meet the unique needs of patients, ensuring optimal recovery and functional improvement. Subsequently, a presentation session was conducted to showcase the accomplishments and ongoing work of GMC Baramulla since its establishment. Dr Waseem Iqbal presented the institution's achievements and the challenges it has faced as it evolves and grows. Dr Parvaiz Masoodi, the Medical Superintendent of Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla, along with other Heads of Departments of GMC Baramulla, graced the inaugural function. Under the Aspirational District Program, the DC recently approved projects worth 1 crore for GMC Baramulla. These projects include the construction of a new MRD Block, the establishment of a Urological Unit, and the upgrade of the Emergency Resuscitation Unit.
